Impressive venue with breathtaking view over the Roman ruins
Ancient palace located on the ruins of the Forum of Augustus
Built by the Knights Hospitaller at the end of 13th Century, this is the ancient seat of the Roman priorate of the Order of the Nights of St. John from Jerusalem. It has been restored in the 15th Century and then in 1950.
The Palace contains impressive sculptures from the ancient Forum and a gorgeous loggia with a panoramic view over the Roman Forum.
It is possible to do the Catholic Ceremony at the historical and characteristic private Chapel. At the entrance you will face the right hand side aisle with its seven arched niches in brick and an arcade of six arches in travertine. The arcade of three arches leads into an ambulatory which connects the ends of the side aisles. Near the entrance you can admire the bronze statue of St John the Baptist and on the altar a fresco featuring the Virgin Mary and Child with Angels, dating back about the 17th Century.
