Certaldo is situated in the hearth of Tuscany between Florence and Siena and it is a great place where to Get Married. The Town is divided in an upper medieval part called 'Rione Castello', surrounded by fortification walls, and a lower, modern and industrialised part.
The Rione Castello maintains the original harmonious structure of a medieval 'borgo' with the Palazzo Pretorio - also available for outdoor Civil Weddings in the ancient courtyard - the monasteries, the churches, the towers and the fortifications. The history of Certaldo is documented only from 1164, when Federico Barbarossa bestowed this territory to the Counts Alberti.
Certaldo is famous also because it is the native land of Giovanni Boccaccio, one of the greatest poets of Italian Medieval literature. Boccaccio, that is the author of the celebrated Decameron, written between 1349 and il 1351, lived the last years of his life and his house that now is a museum and can be visited.
Certaldo's historic buildings have been carefully conserved which gives this town a timeless appeal. It is surely a romantic and picturesque place to Celebrate Your Wedding in Certaldo, strongly recommended!
