The growing popularity of non-traditional weddings
We have realized that especially in the last years that the requests for non-traditional weddings have enourmously increased. To opt for a symbolic ceremony has infact many advantages: first of all you are completly free to decide about the place where the wedding will take place with no restrictions; you could customize your vows with your celebrant’s help, adding readings, poems etc. In our experience in fact blessings and symbolic wedding are the most emotional and touching because of this deep personalization.
Surely this necessity espressed by the spouses to be completly free in the organization and setting of their ceremony has also a socio-cultural explanation.
Often the bride and the groom come from different states, different social and economic backgrounds, have different cultures and religions, different beliefs – sometimes from each other as well as from their respective families and relatives. The wedding represents the coming together of these different worlds and because of this a very delicate moment to be dealt with. Also for these reasons, many couples choose to get married in an alternative ceremony.
Moreover, dealing also with destination weddings we have realize how the tendency to go abroad to get married means mainly limiting the number of guests attending: it’s a way to avoid a traditional two hundred guest wedding, without hurting feelings!!! It is truly a way to make the wedding a spontaneous exchange of vows between husband and wife, witnessed by the people they care for. Inevitably to go abroad often means also not conforming to the traditional values and to be ready to accept the habits and culture of the country where you have decided to get married.
It is still vivid the memories of our clients’ amazement in front of the warmth and creativity Italians are able to offer you even in occasion of a civil wedding.
The choices in the United States or England for a non religious wedding are often limited to the purely formal. Choosing to have a civil wedding in Italy is instead a real event. Never be surprised! The civil officiant of Tivoli for instance is famous for his poems…he uses to create and to dedicate to the spouses poems that he write for the occasion!!! How cute!?!
Indipendently by the type of ceremony you are going to opt, we do firmly believe that the beauty of each ‘Big Day’ lies in the personalization and in the flexibility to mix together and embrace different cultures especially if you have opted for a destination wedding. Obviously the unique Italian landscape and tradition will make the perfect backdrop for what will be essentially YOUR UNIQUE DAY!
